Hi Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we remind you that, despite recent events, your kids and/or you still have to eat. And snacks, as any parent knows, are a cornerstone of the family kitchen, the glue that keeps everyone sane and decently-behaved between meals. The most intimate challenges of everyday life are the things that keep us grounded, tethered to the demands of the present. It’s okay to get really near-sighted for a bit. It’s okay to just think about what you or your kid will eat this afternoon.
After-school snacks are a bit of a tricky genre because they need to be quickly-assembled to sate school-induced ravenousness, without being so calorie-dense that they undermine appetites for dinner.
Below, find two of our favorite nut and seed-fueled snacks that are satisfying pick-me-ups for kids and adults alike: Herby Roasted Nuts and Magic Butter Stuffed Dates. Plus, we’ve rounded up our favorite off-the-shelf crackers and easy toppings to help you execute quick and wholesome snack plates whenever you’re especially short on time.
We can’t promise that the next stretch won’t be tough, but we do promise to keep showing up, every week, to bring you recipes, inspiration and solidarity to help you stay afloat. You are our community, and we’re so grateful to have you here.
Love,
Fanny + Greta
